Interested in becoming an Emergency Medical Technician and exploring a career in healthcare?

The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates Department of Emergency Medicine is excited to announce the return of its Summer EMT Program designed for young adults. This program is an intensive 6-week program for those interested in exploring a career in healthcare (future physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses, paramedics, hospital administrators, public health workers, healthcare lawyers, and other medical professionals).

Taught by practicing GWDEMTC clinicians and educators, students will complete the didactic and practical portions of the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) program with both daily lectures and hands-on simulations. Students will also get to apply what they've learned through rotations within emergency service institutions.

Students will receive their American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card, as well as additional certifications earned during the EMT Program. At the conclusion of the course those who have successfully completed all modules, and are at least 18 years of age, will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification examination. For more information on requirements for the National Registry, please go to: NREMT EMT. Students must be 16 years of age prior to the start date of the course.
