Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR)

The American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider Course is widely recognized as the CPR card of healthcare workers. The course is intended for certified or non-certified, licensed or non-licensed professionals that work in the field of healthcare.

Common participants of this course include physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician assistants, dentists, dental hygienists, medical residents and fellows, medical students, students of medical technology programs, certified nursing assistants, aides, and others who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a healthcare provider-level CPR course.

This course includes the following for adults, children, and infants:

• Recognizing Medical Emergencies
• Accessing the Appropriate Emergency Resources
• Providing CPR (including 1 and 2-rescuer scenarios)
• Providing Ventilations with a Bag-Mask Device (BVM)
• Relief of a Foreign-Body Airway Obstruction (Choking)
• Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

The full certification course is designed for providers all providers to complete the 2015 CPR & ECC updates.

There are two options for certification, the traditional in-class course and hybrid e-Learning skills session.  The e-Learing course is part online, part in-person.  Cognitive portions of the course are completed online prior to scheduling an educational & testing session held at the Training Center. The cognitive portion of the hybrid course is self-paced.
