Replacing the Battery in the Philips OnSite AED

  • Unzip red case, open it, and remove the entire AED from the case
  • Lay the AED face down (the clear plastic side should be against the ground).
  • Remove the old battery. The battery is on the left side of the AED (when looking at it face down) and can be removed by pulling the top tab and pulling the battery out.
  • Insert the new battery into the battery compartment
  • Once inserted, the OnSite will automatically run a self-test. Press the Shock button when instructed to do so. When the self-test is over, the OnSite will report the result and tell you to push the green On/Off button in case of an emergency. (Do NOT push the green button unless this is an actual emergency.) Then the OnSite will go into standby mode. The green Ready light will be blinking (about once every 3 seconds) to show the OnSite is ready for use.
  • Return the AED to the red case

Once you have changed the battery in your AED, please update the expiration date in the SMART Track system. If you have any questions or problems and would like assistance, please call the GW Lifesavers Program at (202)741-2958.
