American Heart Association BLS Provider Course
Blended Format
HC HeartCode completion certificate is required for the skills session
To participate in the skills session, you must provide your HeartCode completion certificate (printed or emailed in advance). Further information is below.
▸ HeartCode requirements ▾
- Complete all HeartCode online learning modules on the AHA eLearning website (elearning.heart.org).
- To receive your HeartCode completion certificate, complete all modules and complete the survey inside the course. After the survey, you will be presented with the certificate.
- Bring a printed copy of your HeartCode completion certificate, or email it to gwtrainingcenter@mfa.gwu.edu prior to class.
If the HeartCode certificate is not provided
You will not be permitted to attend the skills session and will not be eligible for a refund, but are welcome to sign up and purchase a new skills session date.
▸ HeartCode access instructions ▾
- Access to the online HeartCode component is included in the course price.
- You will receive HeartCode access to the email you register with within two business days, as this access is manually issued by our staff.
- To start your online training: click the link in your HeartCode email, or go to elearning.heart.org and enter your code.
If you do not receive HeartCode access
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Email gwtrainingcenter@mfa.gwu.edu.
- Call 202-741-2980.
▸ Want to take ACLS too? ▾
If you want to take ACLS, we recommend taking it immediately following BLS, as the curriculum is designed to transition from one into the other. ACLS is offered on the same dates as BLS at 9:30am and 2:30pm.
▸ What’s included in the course ▾
- Online HeartCode blended learning access, including a Provider Manual eBook, which meets the AHA textbook requirement.
- Interactive skills session using videos, practice training, and instructor guidance.
- In-person skills practice and testing session.
- If you are registering a different person, make sure their name is entered in the “Ship To” box at checkout.
▸ Additional terms and information ▾
- This is a practical skills practice and testing session only. Wear comfortable clothing to participate in the practical skills stations.
- If you are unsuccessful, remediation will be necessary to complete the course and receive certification. This does not occur on the same day, and additional fees will be assessed for instructional time.
- All cancellations must be requested via email to gwtrainingcenter@mfa.gwu.edu. Cancellations within 14 days of a course are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations within 7 days of a course are not eligible for refunds.
- Registrants who do not show up on-time or are not present for the full course are not eligible for certification and will not be granted refunds.
